Hurricane Harvey Arrives in Houston

I'd like to start today with an apology to anyone who has tried, unsuccessfully, to reach Vacations To Go since Friday evening. Due to Hurricane Harvey, Houston is currently experiencing unprecedented, catastrophic flooding that is expected to continue until Thursday morning. We have received 26 inches of rain in the past three days and an additional 12-18 inches is forecast.

In addition to the rain, Harvey's gusting winds have felled countless trees and power lines and have ripped the roofs off hundreds of homes and businesses. Violent thunderstorms have knocked out power to thousands more. There has been an almost continuous barrage of tornado warnings and watches on smartphones and TVs with at least seven confirmed tornadoes in Houston in the past two days.

Both of Houston's airports are closed and will reportedly remain closed until Thursday.

The good news is that we believe all of our nearly 800 Houston-area employees are safe, and keeping them safe is our highest priority. We have advised them to remain home and not venture out into this dangerous storm.

As I write this, the phone lines to our office are down and we are working around the clock with AT&T to restore service. The Vacations To Go headquarters building has sustained no damage and we expect to be fully operational later in the week, when the storm has finally passed.

Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone who has been impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
